For over four years, Cathy Fliris, Family Nurse Practitioner, has provided medical care to the citizens of Niobrara County and those passing through Lusk. Originally from Seattle, Washington, she headed to Alaska to work for the National Health Service Corps in a native Alaskan village on the Yukon River. For 24 years, she worked as an RN in a small hospital and assisted living home, had her own custom arctic clothing business, fished for salmon in the summer, ran a dog mushing tour business with her husband of 25 years, Bill, and raised two sons, Brendan and Jesse. After graduating from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, based in Hyden, Kentucky, she moved to Lusk with another National Health Service Corps scholarship. Both she and her husband love Wyoming, particularly the people, roads, running water, and gas heat! Cathy is currently working on her Doctorate of Nursing Practice through the Rocky Mountain University of Health Sciences in Provo, Utah, which will enhance her health care providing skills.
