Donating to NHLC

Your gift is an investment in the future of Niobrara County.
Two facilities are critical to the maintenance of rural communities: medical services and schools. In Niobrara County it rapidly became evident that the lack of medical services has had a detrimental impact on the community. In 2001, more than 80 of Niobrara County's residents, including County Commissioners, Town Council Members, hospital district board trustees, business people, ranchers, and other interested people came together to form a Coalition to re-open some kind of 24/7 medical facility.

A lot has been accomplished! A financially feasible model for a critical access hospital was proposed by a nationally known consulting company. An architect was hired to propose facility renovations to service the new model. A Specific Purpose Excise Tax overwhelmingly was approved by the voters of Niobrara County for the reconstruction of the facility, and with grants from the Wyoming State Lands and Investments Board, the McMurry Foundation, Wyoming Business Council, Niobrara Medical Foundation, Wyoming Office of Rural Health, Qwest, USDA Rural Development, the Hospital Auxiliary, and the Town of Lusk, the project of renovating the hospital became a reality. Reconstruction of the old hospital/nursing home began in November 2003 and was completed in the first quarter of 2005.

To continue this progress, we need your help.
There are many ways you can contribute to the project. From equipment needs to assisting with startup costs, there are ways for you to help.

The Niobrara County Medical Foundation is a charitable organization designed specifically to receive and administer donations to improve local medical services. Donations to this non-profit corporation can be very flexible and address your specific concerns and wishes - while providing a tax benefit!
